[GAM] appearing in a staged reading of "Willy's Cut-N-Shine" will be presented @HAP, 07/27 & 07/28...

Dear TAML Member,

The Hygienic Art Park presents "Willy's Cut-N-Shine", written and directed by Michael Bradford as part of their 2007 Summer Theatre in the Park Series. In the year 1950, in the small Southern town of Durham, Ga., Louis, a prominent Black businessman, is murdered in the middle of the street. The regulars inside Willy's Cut and Shine Barbershop all witness the murder and watch the murderer casually stroll to his car and drive away before they carry the man into the shop to die. The three generations of men in the shop; the dead man's brother, the elders, and the young men just returning from World War II, begin to clash over the simple question that is between them all. What is to be done?

In the barbershop, the dead man's blood refuses to come up, and a brutal winter has frozen the wetlands of the Negro graveyard, cracking every pick laid to it. Quite literally, the "problem" will simply not leave them be. To this we add a Sheriff who abdicates responsibility, a young gambling junkie back home from Chicago, ghosts from the battlefields of France and Germany, a murderer who wants more than the dead man's blood, and finally the possibility of a soul's redemption or destruction. At the end of this drama, every character must decide what they are willing to suffer in order to see another sunrise.

The cast featured in alphabetical order are Zachary Barr, Lesley Billingslea, Mark Sage Hamilton, Bill Hossack, Irvin Jones, Grégoire Mouning, Lawrence S. Pertillar, Frankie Pratts, Jr and Chris Singletary.
