Dear TAML member,
Enclosed is a special treat in store for you. After numerous re-writes, "Willy's Cut and Shine", by Michael Bradford will be presented as a BareBones® production at the Lark Theatre in New York. This play concerns African-American WWII veterans under postwar discrimination in Georgia and their confrontation with violence.
"Blacks", "Negroes" or "Colored" as they were often called, living in America and especially the south have always voiced their opinions concerning their constitutional rights and living style choices. When the murder of a prominent Black entrepreneur is witnessed by members of this small community in Durham County, GA., they resolve action is necessary. Within their community, the local barber shop is the gathering spot for three different generations to address what must be done about the current situation.
Directed by Daniella Topol, the ensemble cast in alphabetical order includes:

BareBones® productions are the most advanced stage of development that The Lark Theatre presents. They are carefully cast, fully rehearsed and typically run for 6 to 10 performances. They provide the playwright with an opportunity to learn from audience interaction. Focus is on the play's text and the actors' performances, rather than on physical production elements like sets, costumes and lights.
So if you enjoy live theatre that's uniquely entertaining and expressively informative, come and see the next best show playing in New York!
Regards,
Grégoire
